Radisson SAS Removing Thousands of SEO Landing pages

Filed Under: SEO, SEO News, Linking Strategy

Previously, SEO Bomb took look into Radisson SAS’ SEO Linking strategy and discovered thousands of SEO landing pages with duplicate content .In an effort to avoid complete removal from the search engines index, Radisson SAS removes an estimated 25 000 SEO landing pages.

After the publication of “Radisson SAS Getting Busted for Black Hat SEO - Again on February 13 2006, we’ve been keeping track on their SERPS, and while we did expect them to get banned, it is very clear that they’ve taken actions required to avoid this. I assume their quick reaction is due to the fact that representatives from Google dropped by SEO Bomb on February 19th, and after reading my initial article got in touch with Radisson SAS.

From our estimates, they have removed at least 25 000 SEO landing pages - clearly an effort in damage control and a huge effort to avoid de-indexing again.

Performing the same inurl:phrase site:radissonsas.com as we did on the 13th on one of the Big Daddy data centers returns about 15 300 pages — 10 000 pages less than on the 13th. However, going through that list and randomly clicking on their listings show that they have most likely removed every single page involved in this extensive linking strategy.

While a solid linking strategy does a lot to help your site rank better and help the search engines make more sense of your site via theming and layering content, and is actually recommended by the search engines, Radisson SAS did take this way too far in an effor to saturate the search engines with duplicate content — somehting that is far from encouraged by the search engines.

And this is the thing that kills me about these guys. They really don’t need to use these tactics, and they are constantly putting their very online presence at risk by implementing these tactics on their corporate domain. With their resources they wouldn’t have any problem getting some real juicy link bait content created, quite possibly for less than what they are paying their SEO firm.

It’s obvious that their removal in 2004 did not teach them a lesson. The question is — Do you think Radisson SAS will finally realize it’s time to base their SEO efforts on recommended and durable techniques instead of cheating their way to the top?
